Description: Various types of pontoon bridge suitable for tanks are constructed. A Medium B tank crosses over a river on a pontoon bridge, followed by an unarmed Mark V Double Star supply tank. The same Mark V Double Star then makes the crossing on a suspension-type bridge and a pontoon ferry. A Royal Engineers Mark V Double Star is shown fitted with bridge-laying equipment. Another Mark V Double Star manoeuvres a section of bridge, about three times as long as itself, across the ground (the bridge section has a small caterpillar track at its centre of balance). Finally a number of officers take a ride on top of a Mark V Double Star.
Tank bridging trials at Christchurch, Dorset, late 1918.
